Snow!

On Monday we awoke to our first real snow this winter season! Joe didn't have early morning appointments, and I'd scheduled a playdate at our house, so he offered to get up and shovel the driveway and sidewalk. I think he was secretly looking for an excuse to take Joseph out to play!

Joseph got all sorts of excited, but couldn't figure out why he needed more than the usual coat to wear outside. I'd bought a set of snowpants with his winter coat last fall, and we still had his snow boots from last year. He couldn't wait to get outside and check out the white stuff!

Joseph sort of just wandered around behind Joe while Joe worked on the sidewalk and then the driveway. Luckily, we only had a couple inches, if that, so it didn't take too long to get things cleared off.

I found this toddler sled at a garage sale in the fall and snagged it, remembering how Joseph couldn't really sit upright in a regular sled last winter. I'm sure being this prepared for snow jinxed us and that's why we haven't had any good snowstorms, but I digress.

Joseph immediately loved being pulled in the sled and wanted Joe to keep running in circles around the yard. He would wave at me, shouting "bye bye Mama!" as they did big figure eights around the two trees.

Eventually, his little gloves got completely soaked through, resulting in some seriously red, cold hands and after faceplanting in the snow, Joe realized they'd spent plenty of time outside and it was time to warm up. Joseph cried more about not getting to play than the fact that his hands and face were like icicles, and wasn't really happy until a few hours later when he got into playing with the friends who managed to make it over. Too bad the snow only lasted about 24 hours - it's now back in the upper 40s and low 50s!
