Getting settled

During our first weeks in the house, we had lots of fun checking out the neighborhood and all it has to offer. Including some new woodland friends! There are lots of deer, although we don't see them too often. I think Molly's scent may detract them from coming into the yard as much as they did when we first moved in, but we do see them from time to time.

Joseph and Maddie were happy to discover the ice cream man comes all the way to Parkville, too!

In early July, we finally got the pass to the pool. Luckily, I managed to meet another mom, Jenna, who has a 3 year old boy and a little girl 2 months younger than Maddie. And she's a runner! She has been a great resource for introducing us to other families in the neighborhood, and getting me out for early morning Saturday runs. It's been lots of fun finding a half dozen other 3 year old boys for Joseph to play with already, many of whom also go to his preschool. And there's at least 3 other little girls within a few months of Maddie's age that we've met, so I can definitely see lots of life long friendships for the kids (and us!) developing.

We loved our old house and the area it was in, but always felt it was lacking in the family neighborhood feel. Yes, there were lots of kids on the street, but people never ventured out. I've met more people in 2 months at this house than I ever did at the old house. I'm definitely thankful we were able to move in during the peak of summer activities, too, as I'm sure it would have been a bit more challenging to meet people in other times of the year. Regardless, we are all quite happy with the new house and life in Riss Lake so far!
