Father's Day Weekend

We spent Father's Day weekend at the Lake with my parents and Jen, since Mikael and Ashley were under doctor's orders not to leave St. Louis (baby Mason's due date was the following week). We had a great time relaxing, taking a boat rides and generally just hanging out.

We opted to check out Miner Mike's, an indoor amusement park that has been at the Lake for years. We've never stopped in, but after learning that most of the arcade game places on the Strip were closed, we figured we'd give it a shot.

Turns out, this place is amazing, especially for little kids! They have a small train roller coaster indoors, that just completes a quick lap, but goes at a fairly high speed. Papa took Joseph for the first trip, and Joseph's face immediately broke out into a huge smile - he loved it! He took a few more trips around the coaster with Daddy and Papa before we managed to convince him to head downstairs for more fun.

He loved all the arcade games, including this one which required pulling a pink dino water gun and shooting ducks into a hole. He had no interest in receiving help from anyone on this game!

Aunt Jen hopped on to the wave runner ride to help out, but he really thought he was driving for a bit.

Miner Mike's also had pint-sized bumper cars, which Daddy, Jen and Papa took him on. He has been big into crashing things lately, so this was right up his alley! While Joe helped him get out of the car at the end, Joseph ran over to a nearby car, asking to go again.

The next morning, Joe wanted to get some cross training in, and opted to pedal the Adventure Island kayak around the cove with Joseph as his first mate. But before heading out, we hung out on the dock so Joe could put the cover back on the power boat.

We spent a bit of time throwing toys for Molly, who loves to dive off the dock to retrieve them. Joseph and Molly could spend hours playing this game together!

Not wanting to be left out with the clean-up, Joseph found the dock brush and started "cleaning" every inch of the dock.

Such a big helper!

Molly was really upset that she wasn't invited to go on the kayak. As soon as Joe and Joseph pulled away, she dove in and started swimming after them. It took a bit of convincing to get her to swim back to the dock!

The boys spent about an hour exploring the coves and splashing water on each other. Joseph has really started enjoying boat rides, and is happy to talk about everything going on around the boat which has made things so fun this summer.

Heading home from dinner on our last night on the big boat. Joe opted to take a few self portraits of himself with Joseph... too bad they aren't cute! :)
